  Filtering systems often significantly 'over-block' - limiting access not only to illegal or inappropriate content, but also to key online resources to support children and young people to access information on issues such as family breakdown, sexual and reproductive health, relationships or political issues.

  In a conversation around the launch of this report (http://www.communicationforsocialchange.org/publications/future-connect) on AIDS Communication and Social Network Sites yesterday one participant raised questions about how Social NEtwork Sites are becoming key 'networks of trust' in the provision of health information, and other information that affects people's lives.   In a conversation around the launch of this report (http://www.communicationforsocialchange.org/publications/future-connect) on AIDS Communication and Social Network Sites yesterday one participant raised questions about how Social NEtwork Sites are becoming key 'networks of trust' in the provision of health information, and other information that affects people's lives.

  In health information, for example, where health services make up up-to 10% of the global economy, the possibility of corrupt or abusive advertising practices that exploit trust to give misinformation, this could become a very big issue.

  The advertising practices, transparency and data-policies of Social Network Sites all need to be addressed from the point of view of children, young people and young adults.

  Education of users

  There should be more youth education on the Internet especially in the developing world where it is a new tool but one being taken up first. The youth need to be empowered\educated on their rights as well as responsibilities on the Internet.

  This is a point about encouragement of youth engagement in the Internet Governance process and debate on both the local and global levels, and raising profile of their participation. While young people are the most engaged sector online and many decisions about the internet are made in the name of youth, the actual voice of youth is not heard much.

  Youth participation in the Internet Governance Forum (and ultimately in its satellite and preparatory events) should be more formalized. The opinions of youth should be treated as seriously as opinions of other stakeholder groups.

  Age-inappropriate advertising and commercial exploitation

  Companies do not do enough to make sure that adverts are only targeted in age-appropriate ways.

  Children and young people may be exposed to excessive commercial content online.

  Freedom of Expression

  One of the key issues in Internet is related to the Freedom of Expression. It is not an exclusive youth discussion, but it is usually demonstrated in youth activities like using social networks, blogging etc

  Young people need a global corporate policy that responsibly manage end-of-life products through final disposition, cause around the world there are hundreds of tons of unwanted electronics.

  Young people want the development of more environmentally friendly electronic products.

  Young people want better enforcement of recycling and anti-dumping laws.

  Children and Young people should be informed in several compreensive ways (it means with material appropriate for their age like cartoons etc) about safety procedures online to avoid misuse and crimes like children abuse. Moreover, children and young people should be aware of channels to report if they are identifying a potential misuse, aggresive behavior or crime.   Avoiding the exclusion of youth from online public spaces

  It is important to defend the privacy of Internet users. However, under the guise of protecting privacy, recommendations are often made which would exclude young people from being able to participate in online public life.

  The right of children and young people to be present and to participate in online public spaces must be upheld.

  We have already some issues about "education, youth and Technologies of Information and Communication" (TIC), but maybe we can also fight for make this education in media communication and TIC. Maybe we should work to explain why we think that is so important this point, and introduce this kind of education in schools.

  Some rich and advanced countries may have a better education in media communication and TIC, but there are a lot of countries, like Spain, that we have poor (or none) education in this area in ours schools.

  Nowadays there is an interesting fight against some communication rights (like rights to access to information, culture and knowledge) and some intellectual property defenders. This issue is especially important for the poor countries and people because this rights collide (crash head-on) with rich and powerfull enterprises and firms.   Nowadays there is an interesting fight against some communication rights (like rights to access to information, culture and knowledge) and some intellectual property defenders. This issue is especially important for the poor countries and people because this rights collide (crash head-on) with rich and powerfull enterprises and firms.

  In order to achieve and defende the innovation in youth, we need to defend this human rights. Maybe we should try to converge some discussions divide between the "World Summit on the Information Society" (WSIS) and the "World Intellectual Property Organization" (WIPO), according to the ITU and the broad sense of accessibility.

  Improve accessibility for physically handicapped youth

  We should remember that there is a lot of young people handicapped, blind people or with other disability. They often are forgotten because they are "less", and we should fight for avoiding their exclucion.   Teachers, parents and other adult education

  Adults responsible for children education should be educated to assist the children on safety measures online.   Incentive for innovation

  Most of the Internet users are youngsters. But how many great ideas from these users are left behind due to the lack of direct incentives for innovation inside the network? Have we already achieved Internet's full potential? In a broader sense, most of these individuals mostly use than develop the network itself. Though we need a small number of "innovators", it is mandatory that they should also be represented by young ...more »

  Skill for the modern workplace and community

  The assumption that young people are 'digital natives' ignores that many young people need support to develop their critical skills in using digital technologies for their involvement in employment and community.

  Educational systems need to provide more opportunities for the development of these skills.

  Collaporating efforts

  Inspiring youth to be productive online at early age, and opening their eyes about the volunteering work they can share in from their homes and yet can be needed to a wide range of people. Like, not alot in the Arab world know that they can share in Wikipedia for example, so alot of efforts wasted in useless forums, without proper guidance to invest in something important.
